Zen? Tangle – Yes

I have had learning to Zen Tangle on my list for a couple of years now.  The Paint Spot  a local art shop in my neighbourhood offered a version this winter.  Shelly Banks a talented local artist who works in pen and ink and does coptic bookbinding and mosaics was our teacher.

So I learned how to do some lovely pen and ink detailed drawings.  I was delighted to find that it was fun and I could do it, at least under Shelly’s tutelage. I also learned that it is very time consuming and that if I was going to put that kind of time into something it would be appliqué or knitting.

My reason for learning it was so that I could apply it to quilting, either in appliqué or machine quilting designs.  So I now have a new technique to work with and of course am beginning a collection of books to support that new technique. I look forward to seeing how this new technique influences my work.

That looks like fun. Maybe we should be bringing pen and paper this summer?
